Every engineer is an independent, vetted partner

We don't employ engineers. Each visit is carried out by an independent local business that has passed our checks. Nobody gets a job until every check below has passed, and no payment can buy a way around them.

  • Registered for the jobGas Safe for gas (with the right appliance categories), NICEIC or NAPIT for electrical, an accredited scheme for EPCs. Checked on the official register before the first job and again every year.
  • InsuredPublic liability (and professional indemnity for EICRs and EPCs) checked against the policy document, with the expiry date tracked.
  • Identity and right to workA certified digital identity and right-to-work check, required in law for subcontracting chains since 1 October 2026.
  • Basic DBS checkOffered to every partner because engineers enter tenants' homes. Partners who have passed it show a dated "DBS checked" badge.

How a job is offered

  1. Eligibility (pass or fail): registered for that job type, insured, verified, covers your postcode, free in your slot.
  2. Ranking among eligible partners: quality 50% (certificate checks passed first time, on-time arrival, landlord and tenant feedback), distance 30%, fair share of recent work 20%.
  3. Your own engineer first: if you already have a named engineer for that service who is eligible, they are offered the job first, so you see the same face each year.
  4. Priority Partners: partners who pay for Priority membership get first refusal for 2 hours, but only when they pass every eligibility check and their quality score is within 10 points of the best available partner. Otherwise the job goes to the highest-ranked partner.

Paid membership, disclosed. Partners pay an annual membership (Partner £199, Priority Partner £449) and a one-off £49 verification fee. Membership never changes your price, your engineer's ratings or our checks. Priority Partners' profiles are labelled "Priority Partner (paid)" wherever they appear. Job allocation is based on quality and coverage, never on payment alone.

Your named engineer

Before each visit we send a Meet your engineer profile with their photo, company, years of experience, registration numbers and links to check them on the official register, insurance, and dated verification badges. We email it to you with your booking.
