Questions

When can I register?

GOV.UK says the Register your rental property service opens on 15 December 2026, starting in the West Midlands, then other regions over 12 months. Each region gets three months to sign up, and all landlords actively letting must be registered by 14 November 2027.Official source: GOV.UK: Stronger protections and greater confidence for renters (register your rental property rollout)

Is my deadline based on where I live?

No. It follows the property's location.

How much does it cost?

The draft regulations say a fee must be paid before a dwelling entry is made, but the official pages we checked do not yet state the amount. Secondary guidance reports £65 per property per year. Treat it as provisional until GOV.UK confirms it.Official source: Private Rented Sector Database Regulations 2026, draft (legislation.gov.uk)
